The crisis induced by coronavirus has shown that people are capable of collective action and are willing to make changes in their lives. Now this experience should be transferred into tackling the climate crisis, agreed panellists participating in an online discussion organised by Euractiv Slovakia together with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, Bratislava office.
According to eco-journalism specialist Torsten Schäfer, people have been able to adapt to the limitation of restrictions as well as to slow down during the pandemic. The same is going to be needed when tackling the climate crisis. "We were able to slow down and rediscover nature," said Schäfer. Therefore, according to him, in some ways the climate crisis overlaps with the coronavirus crisis.
