Prime Minister Igor Matovic (OLaNO) during Thursday's video-conference between EU leaders expressed his appreciation for the efforts that the European Commission has made up to this point in managing COVID-19 vaccines in the EU. While the discussion mainly focused on the experiences of individual countries with vaccination in the first few weeks of inoculation campaigns, Matovic mentioned and highlighted the activities of Slovak scientists who developed a special version of PCR tests. "People in the EU can finally see for themselves why it's good to be a member of the EU. Slovakia wouldn't have a chance of getting its hands on the available vaccines in such a volume and in such a short time [otherwise]," stated Matovic.
