Foreign Minister on co-ordinated global response to pandemic and climate change

"The world threatened by the coronavirus pandemic and climate change needs to modernise international institutions and set new standards responding to technological progress," stated Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Ivan Korčok (a Freedom and Solidarity nominee) on Wednesday in his address at the ministerial meeting of the Alliance for Multilateralism. This took place on the side-lines of the virtual session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), TASR learnt from the ministry's press department on the same day. "The pandemic, climate crisis, deepening social inequality and devastating conflicts require a co-ordinated response from the international community," said Korčok. Initiated by France and Germany in 2019, the Alliance for Multilateralism represents the growing influence of European states at the UN advocating multilateralism and a world order based on rules and respect for international law.
