As of Thursday, Slovak MEP Lucia Ďuriš Nicholsonová (independent) has become an official member of the Liberal Group Renew Europe in the European Parliament. In a special interview with the TASR news agency, the MEP said that she had left the boards of the European Conservatives and Reformists political group, where she had been working since joining the European Parliament in 2019. She said her stances were incompatible with the positions of the group, where the largest part was made of conservative parties, especially members of the Polish Law and Justice Party. Lucia Ďuriš Nicholsonová served also as the Head of the EP Committee on Employment and Social Affairs on behalf of the ECR Group. "I have retained my membership of this committee and its management," she said, referring to the institution's internal rules.
