Parking cars on sidewalks is banned as of Tuesday, now that legislation introducing the ban has come into effect. A short time window to prepare for such a ban was criticised, for instance, by the city of Bratislava. Lawmakers who submitted the bill argued that the new rules will enable villages and towns to better regulate parking, as now drivers will be able to park only in places specifically designed for parking. The city of Bratislava welcomes the parking ban on sidewalks – however, it asked that it not take effect immediately, as it's not realistic to designate all parking places within a few months.
