Reintroduced checks on the Slovak-Austrian border are set to end on Monday, the Austrian Interior Ministry has announced. The Austrian police will carry out checks only in several border areas, namely Ganserndorf, Bruck an der Leitha and Kittsee. The checks will be coordinated with the Slovak police and the patrols will deploy drones. Austria reintroduced checks on the border in late September 2022 due to an increase in illegal migration. The Czech Republic was another country that opted for the same move in the same period. Czech Interior Minister Vit Rakusan reported earlier this week that the checks on the Czech-Slovak border will end this weekend, however.
