Government withdraws Klus's nomination for member of European Court of Auditors

The government has withdrawn Martin Klus's nomination for the post of an auditor at the European Court of Auditors (ECA), TASR learnt on Tuesday. The cabinet decided this at its session on the same day, after Klus gave up his candidacy. The European Parliament's Committee on Budgets recommended that the European Parliament shouldn't support Martin Klus's bid for an auditor's post at the European Court of Auditors last Wednesday (March 22). Following Klus's hearing, twenty committee members voted against his candidacy, no one voted in favour and three members abstained. President Zuzana Caputova asked Prime Minister Eduard Heger to have the government withdraw the nomination in the meantime. Heger responded that Klus should face up to the situation and withdraw his bid.
