Slovak Zuzana 2 howitzer has chance of succeeding in order for Brazilian army

Slovak Zuzana 2 howitzers, made by state-run joint-stock company Konstrukta Defence, have a chance of succeeding in an order for the Brazilian Army, said interim Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad who came to support the Slovak project at the biggest international defence and security fair in Latin America, LAAD 2023, taking place in Rio de Janeiro.
According to Nad, Brazil might buy 36 howitzers. "This is actually the absolute minimum that I as the defence minister can and should do. There are some 15 ministers from various countries here today. They came to support their defence industries as well," stated Nad, emphasising the importance of supporting Slovakia's defence industry at similar fairs.
"Konstrukta Defence offered the entire portfolio of its products, namely Zuzana 2 howitzer and Eva, its lighter version. Following the first tender round that was held at the end of last year, it seems that Zuzana 2 has a chance of succeeding," confirmed Stefan Skultety, the general director of DMD Group, whose member is also Konstrukta Defence. The next round of the tender should take place in the upcoming days.
The Slovak product competes with military equipment from France, China and Israel. Skultety views Zuzana's real deployment in Ukraine as one of its advantages. If it succeeds, Brazil would first buy two howitzers and decide on the purchase of an additional 34 after testing them.
The Brazilian Army is already using Slovak military equipment in the form of a remote detector of chemical substances. The second contract for them was signed at the fair. The total value of the two contracts is almost €1 million. (TASR)
