Matej Drlicka will become again the head of the Slovak National Theatre (SND). He will be appointed to the post of SND general director on May 1 by interim Culture Minister Natalia Milanova based on a completed public hearing process, TASR was told by ministry's spokesperson Zuzana Vicianova on Monday. Drlicka was recommended on March 17 by the evaluation commission in the public hearing process as the only one out of four candidates. After the publication of the recommendation, the minister asked the commission for a more detailed justification of this recommendation as it should serve as a basis for her final decision. Drlicka led the SND from January 2021 but was dismissed from the post in November 2022 by Minister Milanova over his statements on certain artists and politicians made in English at an international conference in Budapest. Drlicka extended an apology and offered his resignation to the minister.
