The Slovak Armed Forces took delivery of the second Leopard 2A4 tank received from Germany as a replacement for 30 IFV-1s donated to Ukraine. The other 13 tanks will be delivered continuously until the end of the year. TASR was informed of this by Martina Kakaščíková, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic. The tank was received in Germany by members of the 14th Tank Battalion Trebišov, the 42nd Supply Base Martin of the Slovak Armed Forces and representatives of the Modernisation Department of the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic. According to the interim Defense Minister Jaroslav Nad, the equipment will undergo extensive repairs at Rheinmetall Landsysteme before being handed over. The first of the delivered tanks has already undergone tests to verify selected tactical and technical parameters at the Záhorie Military Technical and Testing Institute. The ministry is currently working on their evaluation. "The introduction of the tanks into the Slovak Armed Forces will also require retraining of the crews, which will be conducted by Bundeswehr officers at the Lešt' Training Centre this summer," added Kakaščíková.
