Slovak Security Council will have a new committee on hybrid threats

The Security Council of the Slovak Republic will have a new Committee on Hybrid Threats. It will strengthen the resilience of the state and society against hybrid threats and ensure inter-ministerial cooperation and coordination in the implementation of relevant measures. This is the result of an amendment to the Act on the Functioning of the Security Council of the Slovak Republic in Peacetime, which came into force in May. "The main task of the new committee will be to participate in the coordination of activities aimed at assessing the security situation at home and abroad, adopting measures to fight hybrid actions against the interests of the Slovak Republic and developing relevant policies in the field of combating hybrid threats," said the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic, which submitted the proposal. The Slovak Security Council does not currently have a permanent working body focused exclusively on hybrid threats. The Ministry of Defence stressed that foreign powers are currently using a wide range of hybrid instruments against the Slovak Republic. The aim is to manipulate public opinion, influence state leaders and institutions, weaken or otherwise damage the interests of the Slovak Republic or undermine the internal cohesion of the European Union and NATO.
