Slovakia becomes a member of the EU-LAC Foundation

On Thursday, Slovakia completed the ratification process and became a full member of the European Union-Latin America and Caribbean (EU-LAC) International Foundation. The Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs will represent the country in the governing organisations. TASR was informed about this by the communication department of the ministry. "We believe that this will open up opportunities for our entities and the non-governmental sector to cooperate with a promising region. It is also a clear expression of interest in cooperation in the spirit of the EU Strategy for Strengthening Partnership with Latin America and the Caribbean. On behalf of my Ministry, I can promise that we will support this cooperation," said Ingrid Brockova, State Secretary of the Department of Diplomacy.

The Foundation contributes to strengthening the EU-LAC partnership with the participation and contribution of civil society and other social actors, and strengthens mutual visibility on both sides of the Atlantic. It focuses its activities on seven interlinked areas: education and science, technology and innovation, economic and social development, climate change, culture, multilateral and bi-regional cooperation, and women's empowerment and the elimination of inequalities.
