Bill on Fiduciary Declarations withdrawn from Parliament

The caretaker cabinet decided to withdraw from Parliament a government bill on fiduciary declarations. These were meant to address the situations faced by unmarried couples. The reason given for the move is that the bill is not an adequate and full-fledged solution for the LGBTI+ community. Same-sex couples in Slovakia can neither marry nor enter into civil partnership. Earlier this year, the former government proposed the bill introduced the idea of so-called "confidants," who would be able to obtain information — such as medical information — about their partners. The LGBTI+ community in Slovakia was deeply offended by the proposal.
