“The situation in our region calls for more intense cooperation between Slovakia and Poland also in the security sphere,” chief of Slovak diplomacy Miroslav Wlachovsky declared after meeting his Polish counterpart Zbigniew Rau in Warsaw on Thursday. Both ministers discussed current issues in bilateral ties, the development of cooperation in regional groups, including the Bucharest Nine (B9) or the Three Seas Initiative, and security issues related to the war in Ukraine and the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius in July. According to minister Wlachovsky, Slovakia and Poland are gearing up for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. "The security architecture in Europe has undergone significant change in the wake of the Russian aggression and will never revert back to the pre-war state. That's why it's necessary to focus on the new arrangement, with an eye towards preserving our values and ensure security and protection of our citizens," said Wlachovsky, who called for long-term support for Ukraine in all spheres, including its integration into the EU.
