Slovak Prosecutor-General Maros Zilinka held a video call with his Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Kostin on Tuesday, Prosecutor-General's Office spokeswoman Zuzana Drobova told TASR on the same day, adding that Kostin thanked Zilinka for visiting Ukraine last year.
"I express my gratitude and appreciation for the fact that Maros Zilinka was the first prosecutor-general from EU countries to visit Ukraine in the first weeks after the military conflict started, and met the-then prosecutor-general and representatives of the Ukrainian prosecution service. The Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office greatly appreciates this and won't forget this great expression of support," said Kostin.
Maros Zilinka and Andriy Kostin discussed legal issues related to the armed conflict in Ukraine, the current state and conduct of investigations into war crimes and crimes against humanity led by Slovak law-enforcement bodies, cooperation and bilateral international assistance as part of the joint investigation team (Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Romania and the International Criminal Court), the conduct of financial investigations and the uploading of evidence to the Core International Crime Evidence Database (CICED).
