PM Ódor concluded talks on government manifesto

Slovak Prime Minister Ludovít Ódor concluded a series of talks with leaders of political parties in connection with the preparation of the government's manifesto. His aim was to gain support for the document in the making. The PM stated he would report on the outcome of the talks in the coming days. SaS and Progressive Slovakia will support it. SaS chairman Richard Sulík, as well as the chairman of Progresívne Slovensko (PS) Michal Šimečka, declared their support for the vote of confidence in the government. The PS has one MP in parliament, Tomáš Valášek.

Boris Kollár, the chairman of the parliament and Sme rodina, can imagine supporting the government, but he wants to read its final programme first. According to Kollár, Ódor should have the government programme ready by 12 or 13 June. It could be discussed right at the beginning of the parliamentary session, which is due to start on 13 June.

In order to support the government, OĽANO a priatelia requires maintaining the 200-euro child allowance and to enforce the 500-euro reward for participation in the September elections through a fast-track procedure. Veronika Remišová, head of Za Ľudí, as well as Eduard Heger, former prime minister and leader of the extra-parliamentary party Demokrati, also met with the prime minister. According to Heger, the basic framework of the government's programme so far meets what he expected.

The prime minister also met with opposition leaders Robert Fico and Petr Pellegrini. Neither Smer-SD nor Hlas-SD MPs will support the vote of confidence in the government. According to Fico, Smer-SD would only support it if it was a "statement of the catastrophic state of the country" and an inventory of what "the former government has done". Pellegrini declares that the Hlas-SD MPs will vote in favour of the proposals in the area of saving the euro funds or the economy.
