Thursday's meeting of NATO defence ministers in Brussels focused primarily on the support of Ukraine in its fight against unprecedented Russian aggression, caretaker Defence Minister Martin Sklenar declared after the first part of the two-day event.
During talks of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, the ministers discussed the current priority needs of Slovakia's eastern neighbour.
As Sklenar stated, support for Ukraine is longstanding. “We perceive it as an investment into our own defence and security. We must continue this support, as evidenced also by the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam," said caretaker Defence Minister.
He reiterated that Slovakia continues to actively support the initiative by the European Commission to increase the production of artillery ammunition, with Slovak arms manufacturers having an opportunity to acquire significant EU investments to expand their own production capabilities.
