The Defence Ministry has sent a request to the U.S. government for a specific price offer for Viper attack helicopters and related equipment, training and logistical support, Defence Minister Martin Sklenar reported on Thursday, confirming that Slovakia should pay approximately $340 million for the helicopters despite the fact that their value exceeds €1 billion.
The minister estimated that it will take the USA several months to process the request. According to him, it is a somewhat unusual process, as the helicopters have already been manufactured and only need to be modified into a more modern form. Slovakia can both accept and refuse the resulting quote.
