The government on Wednesday aproved the Defence Ministry's plan to procure a total of 160 joint light tactical vehicles with funding from a US Fund, with the cost of the contract of almost $190 million.
According to Defence Minister Martin Sklenar, the procurement of the vehicles via the US fund means in practice that the Slovak armed forces will acquire a new capability without Slovakia having to pay for it.
The USA have allocated a total of $200 million for Slovakia from the Foreign Military Financing fund. The Slovak Defence Ministry plans to use the remaining funds to purchase firearms and anti-drone systems.
