Radiation in Slovakia stable

The radiation situation in Slovakia was stable in the period from 21 to 27 July. No significant deviations from the standard measured gamma dose rates were observed in other European countries either. This was reported by the Department of Radiation Protection of the Public Health Office (ÚVZ) of the Slovak Republic on the ÚVZ website. "The commonly occurring values of gamma radiation dose rates monitored on our territory range from 70 to 160 nanosieverts per hour (nSv/h) in different areas, in some areas they reach up to 200 nSv/h depending on the altitude, geological bedrock and other factors," he explained.

The radiation situation in Slovakia is constantly monitored and evaluated. The radiation situation in Europe is also monitored. Information on the measurement of gamma radiation dose rates on the territory of Slovakia is also available to the public on the website of the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute.
