The European Parliament's Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT) has expressed a positive opinion after an exchange of views with Katarina Kaszasova, the Slovak candidate for the European Court of Auditors, nominated by the Slovak government. All 24 members of the Committee present unanimously approved Kaszasova's candidacy. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Slovak Audit Oversight Authority and has held significant positions at the European Investment Bank, the European Investment Fund, and the European Stability Mechanism in Luxembourg. The previous Slovak Member of the European Court of Auditors, Ladislav Balko, concluded his mandate on May 6, 2022. A previous candidate, Martin Klus, was rejected by the Committee earlier this year following his hearing, and he subsequently withdrew his candidacy. The European Parliament will vote on Kaszasova's endorsement by the European Court of Auditors next week.
