Ukraine files complaints against Slovakia, Hungary and Poland

On Monday, Ukraine filed a complaint at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) against three EU members - Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. They have refused to lift a ban on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products. They announced the bans to protect their farmers after the European Commission refused to extend measures against four Ukrainian agricultural products last Friday (15 September). Kiev has said it will take legal action against its neighbours' decision. The Ukrainian Economy Ministry added that this was a violation of the international obligations of the EU countries. Russia's invasion of Ukraine has severely disrupted Ukrainian grain exports across the Black Sea. As a result, the EU has become the main transit route and destination for Ukrainian grain exports.
