The winners of the Slovak Press Photo competition have been announced. They were dominated by the themes of the past year that resonated in society. Several participants covered various social issues, environmental protection, the climate crisis and the war in Ukraine. Others included the tragic road accident in Zochova street, marches for the rights of LGBTI+ people, the situation in Ukraine and Peter Sagan's final days at the Tour de France.
The main prize of the competition went to Dorota Holubova for her photo "Screaming and crying activists” from the series "Protest for Matus and Juraj". In the photo, participants of the protest in front of the parliament wanted to express their support for the LGBTI+ community. The photo was taken after the terrorist attack outside the Tepláren bar, where two members of the community were shot dead by the attacker. 151 photographers entered the 12th edition of the competition with more than 1,400 images.
