Katarina Kaszasova appointed new member of the European Court of Auditors

The Council of the European Union on Monday appointed Katarina Kaszasova as a member of the European Court of Auditors. She will take up her duties next Monday (16 October) until mid-October 2029, replacing Ladislav Balko. She was nominated by the Slovak government. At the beginning of September, her candidacy was supported by the EP's Committee on Budgetary Control as well as by the European Parliament. She will serve as Executive Director of the Slovak Audit Oversight Authority from 2020. She previously held senior positions at the European Investment Bank, the European Investment Fund and the European Stability Mechanism in Luxembourg. The mandate of the previous Slovak member, Ladislav Balko, expired in May 2022. The previous Slovak candidate, Martin Klus, was rejected by the members of the Committee on Budgets after a hearing in March this year and subsequently withdrew his candidacy.
