A state of emergency has been declared in the entire Presov region in eastern Slovakia over Monday's earthquake and its aftermath. According to the Interior Ministry, there have been no known injuries and deaths. However, several buildings and houses suffered damage of varying scope. President Zuzana Caputova had telephone conversations with mayors of affected villages to inquir about the villages' most urgent needs at the moment. The head of state also reached out to the Slovak Chamber of Construction Engineers and insurance companies, and voiced hope that the Government will extend help as well. The earthquake that hit eastern Slovakia on Monday evening had a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale.
