Tomorrow, the 11th of November, is the International Day of War Veterans. Bratislava Castle will be illuminated with red poppies on Saturday.
The Ministry of Defense is organizing a 5km run tomorrow, starting at the war cemetery in Kopčany, in Bratislava's Petržalka. The starting gun will be at 11:00 a.m., exactly at the time when the last salvo was fired at the signing of the armistice in 1918 in Compiegne, France, which ended the First World War.
Today, Friday, is War Veteran’s Day in Slovakia. The State Secretary of the Slovak Ministry of Defense will remember the victims of both world wars and all war conflicts with a memorial service at the SNP Museum in Banská Bystrica. Soldiers will distribute red poppies in towns across the country.
