On the occasion of his 90th birthday, ex-president Rudolf Schuster (1999-2004) received the highest Brazilian state award - the Order of Rio Branco. "This state award is normally given only to diplomats and people who contribute towards the promotion of Brazil," noted Brazilian honorary consul in Kosice Daniel Sajtak. He added that only eight persons across the whole world, including Schuster, were decorated with this highest state award in 2023.
