SNS leader won't be dismissed

MPs won't dismiss SNS leader Andrej Danko from his Deputy Parliament Speaker post due to the circumstances of his traffic accident. Parliament failed to approve the agenda of a special session over his ouster, initiated by the opposition. Only 52 of the 126 present MPs voted in favour of the session's agenda, while 49 were against and 25 refrained from voting. Therefore, the Speaker of the Parliament, Peter Pellegrini, ended the session. The opposition criticised the police's course of action following Danko's traffic accident. For example that Danko took a breathalyser test only on the next day after the accident or that he didn't stay at the crash site. In the opposition´s view, Danko, as a public official, should act as a moral authority. The traffic accident occurred late on the eleventh of January in Bratislava.
