Two of the opposition parties plan to submit a motion to dismiss Culture Minister Simkovicova, after a petition with more than 150.000 signatures was submitted to them. "Martina Šimkovičová should never have been Culture Minister," said Zora Jaurová of Progressive Slovakia. Maria Kolikova of the SaS party said: "We are convinced that art is the foundation of a democratic society.‘
The party of the Minister, The Slovak National Party, counterattacked. „We cannot allow the Opposition to deal with the personnel matters of the coalition,“ said Roman Michelko. He called it "disgusting theatre" on the part of the opposition and announced he would start a petition in support of the Minister. (TASR)
