Anti-government demonstrations took place Thursday evening in two dozen cities across Slovakia and in some foreign cities, like Paris, Krakow, Brno and Prague, where several hundred demonstrated.
The largest demonstration was in Bratislava, where a crowd gathered in Namestie SNP, estimated at 27,000 by the newspaper Dennik N.
Most of the public anger was directed at the proposed changes in the Criminal Code. The newspaper Sme estimated total turnout in all Slovak cities at almost 45.000.
Bomb threat
The government offices received a letter a few days ago, threatening bomb attacks on the demonstrations in the capital, in Banska Bystrica and Kosice. The NAKA police force detained one suspect, ahead of the event.
