We are working on a more targeted policy of energy subsidies, said Economy Minister Denisa Sakova. She was responding her colleague Ladislav Kamenicky, who said yesterday he wanted to reduce government spending next year by 1.5 billion euro, in part by spending less on energy.
Sakova said energy assistance for households should take into account the social and geographical differences. "On Orava, they have three-generation houses and three families live there, and they simply have to heat from September to June," she said. In Bratislava, the heating season is significantly shorter. She also said that people who have a swimming pool should not qualify for state aid.
