The city councilors of Kosice, Slovakia’s second-largest city, adopted a vote of no confidence in the mayor. Twenty votes for, 5 against, 8 abstentions. It was a symbolic vote because the council does not have the right to fire the mayor.
Deputy Dominik Karaffa said that by his behavior towards residents, businesses, and media of the city, and his comments on investment projects, ‘arouse public distrust towards the city.’ Mayor Jaroslav Polacek called the vote ‘politicking.’ (TASR)
