President Zuzana Čaputová will announce her next procedure regarding the amendment to the Penal Code by the end of the week, said her spokesman Martin Strižinec on the fourteenth of February. The amendment was delivered to the president's office after six days following its approval. Čaputová said that she'll consider all options to prevent it from coming into effect. She called its passing by Parliament bad news for Slovakia and all its citizens. Parliament dealt with the amendment to the Penal Code, sponsored by the Justice Ministry, via a short-tracked procedure. The amendment includes several fundamental changes. Such as the scrapping of the Special Prosecutor's Office, the shortening of statutes of limitation, higher criminal damage classifications and lighter sentencing.
