Slovak farmers are planning several protests this week. They say not all subsidies for the past year have been paid out; there are problems in acquiring land from the Slovak Land Fund; and only a select group of farmers have green diesel allowances.
In response the government agency responsible for farm subsidies today announced it would speed up payments for a number of direct support schemes. The PPA said farmers should receive more than €118 million within a few days.
