Slovakia will support Romania’s proposal to scale down the protection of bears in the European Union. Deputy Minister Filip Kuffa of the Environment Ministry said that other countries might join as well.
The cabinet, in its meeting on Wednesday, asked Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštók to consult districts about the possibility of declaring local states of emergency, after recent incidents in which people were injured by bears.
