Justice Ministry rejects criticism from EU over penal policy, opposition concerned

The Justice Ministry is convinced that there is no reason why the European Commission should suspend the drawing of Recovery Plan resources for Slovakia and claims that the European Commission's arguments to the contrary are not based on real facts.

Meanwhile, the opposition has lambasted the government for potentially jeopardizing the drawing of EU resources. That might happen due to the European Commission's reservations towards the manner in which the Special Prosecutor's Office was scrapped and changes were made to the Penal Code. According to some opposition MPs, Slovakia has never been so close to having its European resources stopped than it is now.
