Daffodil Day has been fighting cancer for 28 years

The yellow daffodil - live or artificial - has been a symbol of public fundraising for oncology patients in Slovakia for 28 years. It is organized by the Cancer League, which uses the collected money to support, for example, the development of diagnostics, treatment, research, and equipping hospitals and hospices. According to the League, 40,000 people are diagnosed with cancer each year in Slovakia. The 28th annual Daffodil Day will take place across Slovak towns and villages on Thursday, April 18th. To mark the occasion, President Zuzana Čaputová will welcome representatives from the League against Cancer to the Presidential Palace. Daffodil Day was held for the first time on March 21st, 1997 in six Slovak cities. During last year's nationwide collection, more than a million euros were donated.
