Traffic-prevention event revealed more than 1600 offenses

On Friday (April 19), the police revealed more than 1,600 violations during the 24-hour traffic prevention event called Rýchlostný Maratón (Speed Marathon), said the spokeswoman of the Police Force, Denisa Bárdyová.

Almost 1,500 drivers paid a block fine on the spot. For less serious offenses they received a warning. Almost 40 drivers committed serious violations and their driving licenses were detained. Almost 60 drivers will have to explain their actions at the relevant traffic inspectorates, she added. Since the beginning of the year, the police have recorded 3,094 traffic accidents in which 199 people were seriously injured. 66 people lost their lives.
