PM Fico belittles successful civic collection for Ukraine

Robert Fico said of the Slovak collection for ammunition for Ukraine that it was like a “fart in Stromovka park” (Czech figure of speech meaning "of a very little significance“). He also noted that people would probably not contribute so much to a collection for cancer treatment. According to the Prime Minister, the money collected will not change anything about the situation in the war and the whole initiative is merely a symbolic gesture.

Almost 4 million euros have already been collected in Slovakia for ammunition for Ukraine. The civic collection was a response to the decision of the Slovak government refusing to finance the delivery of weapons to Ukraine. The initiative has received recognition from Ukraine as well as other countries.
