Labour Day commemorated

Everyone should have real opportunities to find work and be able to provide for themselves and their families. This was stated by the President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Caputova on the occasion of Wednesday's Labour Day. The President also referred to people with different qualifications who are forced to travel abroad for work. At the same time she expressed her hope that all parts of Slovakia will be better developed. "So that everyone and every person has the opportunity to find a job that will provide them with a decent life at home," President added.

Prime Minister Robert Fico celebrated 1 May with work and completed the night shift from Tuesday to Wednesday with the workers of the ZKW Slovakia s. r. o. plant in Krušovce, western Slovakia. He said that it was necessary to talk to employers about the proportion of night work in Slovakia, which is the highest in the European Union, and to discuss night-time allowances.
