Czech Republic example of how to improve drawing EU funds

We want to copy all good solutions from the Czech Republic so that Slovakia can better use the EU funds, Slovak Investments, Regional Development and Informatisation Minister Richard Rasi (Hlas-SD) told TASR following a meeting with Czech Vice-Premier for Digitisation and Regional Development Minister Ivan Bartos, praising the fact that the intergovernmental cooperation with the Czech Republic is working.

"Our working groups are working to describe and in a good sense plagiarise all the good solutions they have," said Rasi, adding that these are various technical steps aimed at simplifying the reporting of spending. "In a good way, we want to copy what they have, but also the Poles and Hungarians," he noted, adding that the funds being sent to Slovak regions this year will be significantly easier to draw on thanks to inspiration from examples of good practice they have seen in the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary.

"I'm glad that despite the strong words of the Czech government before the presidential election, intergovernmental cooperation is running normally," stated Rasi, pointing out that the strong partnership between the Slovak and Czech Republics is also proved by the cross-border cooperation programme Interreg SK-CZ. In the last programming period, €106 million was earmarked for it, while almost €107 million will also support this area from the new EU funds.
