The President approved the shortening of the operation of children's outpatient clinics

The President of the SR Zuzana Čaputová signed an amendment to the Act on Health Care Providers. The office hours of outpatient emergencies for children will be shortened from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. starting in July. The amendment also regulates the office hours of paediatricians in regular clinics. They will be available to patients every working day of the week, of which at least one day until 4:00 p.m.

According to Health Minister Zuzana Dolinková (Hlas-SD), the measures are intended to ensure affordable health care for children throughout Slovakia until a new generation of paediatricians enters the system. The head of the ministry announced the changes after negotiations in May with representatives of paediatricians and the Association of Cities and Towns of Slovakia.
The amendment also brings changes in the introduction of optimization of the hospital network. Regulates the possibility to issue the so-called decree on categorization even during the year and extends the deadlines by one year for several actions.
