Ľudovít Ódor garners highest number of preferential votes in EP elections

Progressive Slovakia (PS) candidate Ľudovít Ódor received the highest number of preferential votes in the European Parliament elections in Slovakia on Saturday, 294,944 votes in total, according to the official election results.

Ódor was followed by Smer-SD candidate Ľuboš Blaha, who obtained a total of 187,020 preferential votes. Next came Erik Kaliňák (Smer) on 151,860 votes, Milan Uhrik (Republika) on 133,949 votes, Monika Beňová (Smer-SD) on 131,126 votes and Veronika Cifrová Ostrihoňová (PS) on 117,207 votes. Other candidates who won a seat in the EP are Martin Hojsik (PS) on 89,084 votes, Judita Lassakova (Smer) on 87,166 votes, Milan Mazurek (Republic) on 71,656 votes, Lubica Karvasova (PS) on 65,835 votes, Miriam Lexmann (KDH) on 58,179 votes, Katarina Roth Nevedalova (Smer) on 44,409 votes and Branislav Ondrus (Voice-SD) on 42,423 votes.

PS candidate Michal Wiezik also managed to win a seat in the EP on 30,022 votes, but there were several unsuccessful candidates who garnered more preferential votes than him, such as Branislav Becik (Hlas-SD) on 39,595 votes and Richard Sulik (SaS) on 36,503 votes, for instance. However, their parties Hlas-SD and SaS received only 7,14% and 4,92%, respectively.
