On Wednesday, Defense Minister Robert Kalinak announced the filing of a criminal complaint in connection with the donation of MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine. According to Kalinak, the former Minister of Defense, Jaroslav Nad, weakened the armed forces, in violation of the constitution, by donating the fighter jets. In March 2023, the interim government of Eduard Heger provided Ukraine with 13 MiG-29 fighters and part of the Kub air defense system. Several politicians and lawyers argued that the temporary cabinet had no authority to the MiG’s.
In response to the complaint, Nad stated that he would make the same decision again, as they save lives and Slovakia should be reimbursed by the European Peace Facility. Regarding the announced legal steps, he said that the police had already rejected one criminal complaint in this matter.
