Slovak Railway Company okays building new main station

The spokeswoman for the National Rail Company of Slovakia (ŽSR), Vladimíra Bahýlová stated, that the main railway station in Bratislava will not meet capacity requirements in the future. The reason is the expected increase in railway traffic. This was stated on behalf of the Transport Minister, Jozef Ráž, who said that at the end of June, the state is considering to build a new main railway station. According to Bahýlová, an increase in international train connections means a necessary increase in the number of tracks and platforms at the station. According to the Bratislava spokesman Peter Bubla, the capital will support every effort to have a modern railway station in the city. However, the capital's municipality claims that the Transport Ministry does not share information with them. According to Bubla, everything indicates that the restoration of the main railway station will not happen as planned with the state and ŽSR.
