In 2023, the state increased wages of nurses in health facilities, but did not include nurses in nursing homes. The Labor Ministry is aware of the long-term pay gap. In 2025 different types of institutions will receive 26 million euros more than this year. "The department will spend a total of over 262 million euros for this purpose. More funds will contribute to the sustainability and availability of social services and help stabilize employees, including improving their financial compensation," the Labor Ministry said in a statement. There is a similar problem in education. Nurses teaching professional subjects at medical schools also attract higher salaries in hospitals and leave education.
