A tragic incident in the Tatras on Thursday in the wake of floods and landslides claimed at least two lives and left four people injured. One of the victims is a foreigner, according to Environment Minister. A state of emergency was declared and rescue activities were still being carried out as of Friday morning. A total of 16 people were trapped after the flood hit a shelter. The police is currently investigating the incident.
On Thursday afternoon, central and northern Slovakia were hit by strong storms, with several streets left under water and fallen trees on roads. Meteorologists forewarned against high temperatures and storms on Friday morning.
