"Based on the available information, the inspection of all structures could not take place earlier than within 24 hours, which makes it impossible to continue the festival program. However, the safety of our guests is a priority and we believe that everyone will understand our decision, which we have made with great regret," they said. The organisers said they expect to provide more information about the effects of weather on the festival shortly.
Parts of Slovakia were hit by intense thunderstorms on Friday evening. They caused a large tent to collapse at the Pohoda festival. Rescue workers treated 15 mostly slightly injured people aged 19 to 49, two of them foreigners. Two women aged 20 and 24 suffered more serious injuries.
Fourteen injured were transported to hospitals in Trenčín and Považská Bystrica. They suffered mostly head injuries and bruises of upper and lower limbs. Two more seriously injured women had fractures of the cervical spine and pelvis. All rescue services intervened after the collapse of the tent at Pohoda festival. The police announced that they would launch a criminal investigation into the offence of general endangerment.
The Slovak national train carrier ZSSK has informed that tickets purchased for Sunday's (July 14) festival trains will be accepted by train staff on Saturday on any train in the direction for which they were purchased.
