On Wednesday, 17 July, the Slovak Institute was inaugurated in London. It is located in the premises of the Slovak Embassy near Kensington Palace. It is intended to serve the needs of the Slovak community and the development of bilateral relations between Slovakia and the United Kingdom.
“Cultural diplomacy is one of the pillars of mutual contact and enrichment of our two nations. I believe that the Slovak Institute will become an imaginary home for the work of Slovak artists,” said State Secretary Marek Eštok, who attended the opening ceremony.
Approximately 160,000 Slovaks live in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Slovak Institutes have long been raising the profile of Slovakia, presenting Slovak culture and art, organising cultural events, lectures and workshops.
