Central Bank: Regional disparities remain one of the biggest challenges in Slovakia

According to the Slovak central bank, the disparities between regions remain high and have long been one of the Slovakia's biggest challenges. In the last year, individual regions have started to converge slightly, especially economically. In employment, gross domestic product (GDP) per capita and disposable income, the differences between them have narrowed slightly. At the same time, the inequality between women's and men's wages increased slightly in 2024 and Slovak children are less likely to outperform their parents' education. Higher intergenerational mobility, especially in education, leads to more robust economic growth and poverty reduction.

The Slovak Central Bank has informed about this in connection with its report on structural challenges of the current year.
